The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) is the governing body of international ice hockey. The IIHF features 83 member associations, each of which is the national governing body of the sport in its nation.
Besides controlling the international rulebook, processing international player transfers, and dictating officiating guidelines, the IIHF runs numerous development programs designed to bring hockey to a broader population.
From its headquarters in Zurich, the IIHF organizes in cooperation with its 32 staff members more than 30 international tournaments and competitions annually.

In order to support our Marketing & Communications team, we are looking for a dedicated and passionate:

Website Manager (f/m/d)

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Director, this role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced webite specialist to make a contribution to the overall IIHF communication strategy. As Website Manager, you will oversee the functionality of the website, evaluate and manage performance, and develop, maintain and update website content. You should have a strong understanding of UI/UX and demonstrated expertise in usability, architecture, accessibility, design, and search engine optimization (SEO) as well as a passion for ice hockey. You will be competent working with both traditional and new media platforms, and have a deep professional understanding of the ever-evolving digital and new media landscape.

The IIHF would like this position to start as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Director to develop and execute an overall website content strategy to reach IIHF’s strategic initiatives
  • Responsible for overall planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading the IIHF’s website both from a content perspective and from a technical perspective in cooperation with the Technology Department
  • Responding to and troubleshooting website issues
  • Acts as main contact to stakeholders for website and content needs
  • Write, proofread, and edit content and control consistent and correct use of language and terminology; develop and manage an editorial calendar to ensure timely content; and collaborate with marketing and design teams to ensure consistent messages across all channels.
  • Work with digital media content including graphics, photos and videos
  • Use web metrics and your knowledge of digital technology to maximize search rankings, optimize content, and analyze user engagement
  • Manage overall IIHF website style and make sure that the website always meets newest industry standards and UX design
  • Embed or run streams and include other content from event organizers including ticket sale integration with organizing committees and ticket partners
  • Manage editorial contributer team and co-produce editorial web materials on international hockey, IIHF events, national teams, CHL, leagues, news, programs, congresses
  • Monitor international hockey & and sports websites as well as social media to produce relevant stories for IIHF.com
  • Responsible for IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship tournament websites in regards of content and coordination with the Organizing Committees and Commercial Partners
  • Manage CMS accounts, access and education for contributors, photographers and organizing committees
  • Work with IIHF departments,committees and members to development editorial content to promote ice hockey topics
  • Provide event support in IIHF-governed events

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Re-edit IIHF.com-specific material for print purposes and support the Communications Manager with production of annual IIHF publications
  • Assist in the development of and content creation for the the mobile app
  • Support in preparing and controlling respective budgets
  • Manage online sale of publications including sale and payment platforms
  • Manage editorial teams at tournaments and travel, support in media-relation and operations activities at events
  • Work on news releases and media accreditation in cooperation with the Communications Manager
  • Work on social media platforms in cooperation with the Digital Media Manager
  • Support communications channels for other stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing & Communications Director

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of work experience as a website manager or in a similar role
  • Technically minded, with expertise in using Content Management Systems and an understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other web technologies
  • Understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Ability to troubleshoot website issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Excellent content creation,writing and photo/video editing skills
  • Fantastic time management with the ability to multi-task
  • Top candidates will be comfortable troubleshooting the website and constantly improving the User Experience (UX) of the website.
  • Technical understanding of social media platforms and algorithms
  • Fluent English speaking/writing ability (mother tongue or level C1/C2) is a requirement as all content must be in the IIHF’s official language
  • German or further languages also advantageous
  • Ability to work under pressure in an event and team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite, video-editing software
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
  • International travel required – participation at Top Division events
  • Expect to be reachable if needed at various times for specific communication topics
